Introduction
If you're looking into godspousals, chances are you know that there are a few different kinds of spousal relationships. In a way, you could say that there are a few different types of platonic spousals as well, though I wouldn't necessarily call this type of a relationship a spousal. In this article, I'll explain what a platonic relationship with an entity involves.
Original Platonic Relationships
The best way to explain what a platonic godspousal is, would be describing it almost like a best friend scenario. You could even enter into this kind of relationship as a way of honoring an entity who has been with you for a very long time, protecting you or helping you through difficult times. This could be similar to a godspousal in terms of a ceremony to accept their energy long term or just like with parental spouse situations; you're honoring the entity formally without any romance. Personally, I view this situation to be a mix of both parental and romantic spousal together. There's no sexual or romantic acts done between the two of you but there is a chance in the future that you both change feelings while bonding that the entity could potentially propose. Like any of the relationships, consent is key and usually the entity will bring forth the idea of a platonic spousal.
Oathbound and Priesthood Relationships
With some platonic relationships, the entity whether its a spirit, infernal, or deity, will suggest a platonic relationship in order to work very closely with you. By this I mean entering priest training or training to be a Vitki. This is called being oathbound and not every oathbound relationship equal a platonic spousal. When this happens, there are years of training involved and its not meant to be taken lightly. Often, much of your practice will revolve around whom you're oathbound to; much like when you enter into a romantic godspousal.
Not only am I godspoused, but I have parental godspouses and I am in a platonic, oathbound relationship with Fenrir. We entered into an agreement after much talking, divinations, and other outside sources doing confirmations. Fenrir had been in my life since I was young, protecting me when I couldn't and guiding me down the right path and I am forever grateful to him. In our relationship, he announced that he wanted our work together to go further and deeper than it was. Once I had figured out that he was wishing to enter into a platonic relationship, a little while later he asked me to begin priest training with him. With my training, I am to learn as much as I can, help others, teach about Fenrir, and learn the best way to work with my shadow self in order to heal others via shadow work. I had to do a lot of research into priesthood, platonic relationships, and what it means to do all of this for my deity. I knew it would be a lot of work so I waited on giving him an answer until I knew for certain and once I said yes, my training began; I wouldn't change it for the world. Even though it's hard work sometimes and I go through a lot of tower moments, in the end I know its for the best and I wouldn't be where I am today if I hadn't accepted his request.
Conclusion
Have you ever been in a long distance friendship or relationship with someone you care deeply for? Think of this type of relationship as exactly that. The entity whom you enter in this relationship with, is on another plane of existence and essentially you're keeping in touch with them via phone calls or texting. You know they're there but more often than not, you can't see them or talk to them like you would if your human friend lived next door. Its companionship or a working relationship that can be very demanding at times, depending on what route you end up going. Being in a platonic working relationship, I offer confirmations to see if the entity you're working with, would like to enter into this kind of relationship with you and if there's priesthood brought up, I will also see what the two of you would be working on together.
